Frequently Asked Questions
What does "devigging" mean?+
Devigging strips the bookmaker's margin from the odds to reveal the "fair" line. If a book offers −110/−110, the fair odds are actually +100/+100 (50/50). Knowing fair odds lets you compare pricing across books and find +EV spots.
What is the multiplicative method?+
It removes vig proportionally from each side. Fair probability = implied probability / total implied probability. For −150/+130: implied = 60% + 43.48% = 103.48%. Fair probs: 60/103.48 = 58.0% and 43.48/103.48 = 42.0%. This is the most commonly used devig method.
How do I use fair odds to find +EV bets?+
If the fair probability for a side is 55% but another book offers odds implying only 50%, you have a +EV opportunity. The difference between fair probability and the book's implied probability is your edge.
